Student guide
Everything you need to do in this system, in the order you need to do it: claim your account, get into a team, and submit your work.
1. Activate your account
Do this once. Your account already exists — your coordinator created it from the class roster — but it has no password until you set one.
1Open the activation page
Go to the address your coordinator sent you and choose Activate your account under the sign-in box.

You need two things: your student ID and your university e-mail address. 2Enter your student ID and university e-mail
Your student ID is the number on your student card — nine digits. The e-mail must be your university address, the one on the roster. A personal Gmail will not be recognised.

Then press Send me a code. 3Check your e-mail for a 6-digit code
The code expires after 10 minutes, so open your inbox straight away. If it has not arrived in a minute or two, look in your spam folder.
4Type the code and choose a password
At least 12 characters, with an upper-case letter, a lower-case letter and a number. Nobody else — not your coordinator, not your supervisor — ever sees it.

Once this is done you are signed in and your account is active.
2. Sign in
From now on this is the page you start from.
Sign in with your student ID and the password you chose. Staff sign in with their university e-mail instead.

3. Get into a team
There are two ways in, and only one of them is yours to do.
When you first sign in you have no team, and the page offers you both.

If you are starting the team
Press Create team. The name is optional — you get a team code either way. You become the team lead, which means you are the one who adds everyone else.
If someone else is
Do nothing here. Tell them your name or student ID and they add you from their own page. You will see the team appear when they do.
Only one person creates the team. If two of you both press Create team you end up in two teams of one, and you will have to leave one of them before you can join the other. Agree who is doing it first.
4. Add your teammates
Only the team lead can do this.
Open My team and find Add a member.

The list narrows as you type and shows each person’s student ID beside their name, which matters more than you would think: two students on this course can share a name.

Someone missing from the list? Only classmates who are not already on a team appear. If you cannot find them, they are almost certainly on another team already — ask them. If they have not activated their account, they will not appear either.

5. If you are short of people
A team below the minimum cannot submit a proposal, so do not sit on this.
Raise the flag on your team page. Your coordinator sees it on their own screen, alongside every other team asking for people, and can move someone across.

6. Submit your proposal
A title and a short abstract. Your supervisor approves it, asks for changes, or declines it.

Once submitted you cannot edit it while your supervisor has it. If they ask for changes it unlocks again, and their comment appears at the top of the card telling you what to change.
7. Milestones and peer review
The rest of the term runs on dates.
Milestones lists what is due and when. Some require a PDF. You will be e-mailed a few days before each one, and again if it goes past its date without a submission.

Peer review opens for a few days near the end. You rate your teammates’ contribution, and it adjusts each person’s individual grade against the team’s. It is confidential — your teammates never see who said what — and not submitting simply leaves your view out of the result. You will be e-mailed when it opens and before it closes.
8. When something goes wrong
- The code expired before I used it
- Codes last ten minutes. Go back and ask for another one — there is no limit on how many you can request.
- No e-mail arrived
- Check your spam folder first. If it is not there, make sure you used your university address and not a personal one. If it still does not arrive, tell your coordinator — the address on the roster may be wrong.
- It says my student ID is not recognised
- The ID must be the nine digits from your student card. If it is right and still fails, you may not be on the roster yet; ask your coordinator to check.
- It says I am already on a team
- You can only be on one team per course. If you joined the wrong one, open your team page, expand Leave this team, and confirm — then the other team's lead can add you.
- I am the lead and want someone else to be
- Use Transfer lead on your team page. You stay on the team; they take over adding members and submitting.
- Team formation is closed
- Your coordinator closes it once teams are settled. Ask them to reopen it or to add you to a team directly.
Still stuck? Ask your course coordinator — they can see your account, your team and your submissions, and can fix most things directly.
